Ole Borden (b. 1922) was from Denmark. He moved to America in 1952, after working as a designer in Europe. He did the “Young Look” line at Lord & Taylor from 1959 to 1964. In 1964 Borden moved to Rembrandt, where he designed until 1974.
(By Fuzzy Lizzie, VFG)
Inspired by Christian Dior early in his career, he went on to design for Rembrandt, “the old-time dress house”. The reorganized company was aiming at more arresting ideas like the double dress and “flared skirts under loose overblouses” —not “dumb dresses”.
