true vintage 1940's Claire McCardell dress is pristine condition!
"Claire McCardell by Townley" with "Makoff Salt Lake City" boutique label.
Time magazine did a cover feature on McCardell. In the article, Stanley Marcus was quoted as saying, “She is one of the few creative designers this country has ever produced.”
Also, Claire McCardell was a classmate (and possibly a roommate) with Joset Walker which makes sense given the skirt design of this fabulous dress...

CONDITION:
excellent - appears to have been worn very little (if at all?) and stored very well. missing original belt but many of Claire McCardell's dresses are displayed with various belts of the era so this is really a non-issue. there's also 4" at the hem if you'd like to make a matching belt. price adjusted accordingly.
