the jewish museum in maryland has another dress with this label in their collection but there are very few out there and this one is by far the most exquisite...
Fanchon E. Komito was born Fanchon Epstein in Baltimore. She worked as a buyer for Hochschild's and Oneill's department stores before opening Estelle and Fanchon on the 1000 block of North Charles Street in 1940. She seems to have been very inspired by the new look silhouettes of the era --which is clearly evident in this dress. Her boutique closed in the early 1950's leaving very few of her dresses in existence.
Fanchon was very involved with the Jewish community until she died in 1990.
a little pricey but well worth it! it’s a show stopper and it’s unlikely you’ll find another…
