The Suzy Perette silhouette of cinched waist and full skirt were extremely popular in the early fifties and a quality interpretation of Dior’s famous “new look.” Sidney Blauner, whose manhattan firm turned out the Suzy Perette label, acquired the right to incorporate Dior’s notions in their designs- and this dress is a fabulous example!

DETAILS

• classic silhouette with a fitted bodice and a full sculptural skirt

• the skirt starts with what feels like a silk (no content labels to confirm)  matte taffeta with exceptional horizontal and diagonal pleating at the back that gives the illusion of a giant bow, then finished with an actual bow. it's lined with pellon for a more structured shape. the front has an overlay of the same exquisite velvet as the bodice

• bodice is a rich luxurious black velvet with sculptural straps at the front that merge with a full back at the graceful neckline

• back metal zipper
