very rare 1940's early Suzy Perette 2 piece jacket & skirt dress suit

Suzy Perette was not a real person but actually a registered trademark of Lombardy Dress that was first used in 1946 and became a registered trademark of Lombardy Frocks in 1954.

The company was started by the Blauner family and some of the designers included Evelyn Dawson, George Halley, and Victor Costa.

In the midst of the the “new look” era during the early fifties, for a sum of about $2,000 (plus royalties) Sidney Blauner acquired the right to incorporate Dior’s notions into dresses thereby enabling the Suzy Perette label to bring Parisienne fashions to the United States at an affordable price.  The quality of fabrics and craftsmanship of Suzy Perette designs from this era beautifully reflect the couture style qualities from which they were inspired by.
